Job Description
The Senior Distributed Systems Engineer will develop, maintain, and scale a reliable distributed computing system for geothermal resource exploration, collaborating with scientists and engineers, and sharing expertise to advance the company's innovative geothermal technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a reliable distributed compute system for geothermal research.
- Maintain and scale existing multi-physics well-targeting engine.
- Collaborate with geophysicists, geoscientists, seismologists, and engineers to solve complex problems.
- Lead system development efforts to meet research team needs.
- Learn and understand the domain to improve system scalability and reliability.
- Teach and share expertise in distributed systems engineering with team members.
Requirements
- Experience in developing and maintaining distributed compute systems, with the ability to design and deliver reliable systems that meet the ongoing needs of scientific research teams.
- Ability to learn and understand existing multi-physics well-targeting engine systems, and identify how to migrate these systems for scale and reliability.
- Proven leadership skills to lead projects and be a trusted leader within a technical team.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with geophysicists, geoscientists, seismologists, and engineers.
- Experience in teaching or mentoring others in distributed systems engineering, with the ability to share critical skills and knowledge.
- Full-time, salaried employment with a commitment to working in Salt Lake City, Utah, in a hybrid work environment.
- Educational background or experience sufficient to understand and work with complex software systems related to geothermal exploration and modeling.
