Job Description
The Head of Communications will develop and execute strategic communication plans to promote Zanskar's geothermal exploration success, manage media and social media channels, and craft engaging content to enhance the company's visibility and influence in the renewable energy industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute the company's communication strategy targeting multiple audiences.
- Manage external PR firm to connect the company's work with media channels.
- Create engaging content using field work imagery to promote internal and external excitement for geothermal power.
- Support founder-led communications and craft narratives positioning Zanskar as a geothermal industry leader.
- Measure and report the impact of communication efforts on business objectives such as recruiting, fundraising, and regulatory reform.
Requirements
- Experience in designing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy that targets multiple audiences, including investors, potential hires, customers, regulators, and government officials.
- Ability to work closely with co-founders and other team leads to craft and implement targeted, timely, technical, and sometimes viral communication campaigns.
- Proficiency in utilizing modern social media channels to promote organizational messaging and engagement.
- Experience managing an external public relations firm to connect organizational work with legacy mainstream and local media channels, depending on targeted audiences.
- Skill in creating engaging and motivating content from field work imagery, including photos and videos of geologic data collection, drilling rigs, and operating power plants, to inspire excitement internally and externally.
- Ability to develop and implement measurement and reporting frameworks and metrics to evaluate the impact of communication efforts on key business objectives such as recruiting, fundraising, and regulatory reform.
- Experience in managing or supporting an internal communications team to support broad engagement across the company in storytelling and narrative development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to support founder-led communications and internal messaging.
- Ability to generate increased media mentions and social media engagement related to geothermal discovery and Zanskar’s work within six months of employment.
- Proven track record of increasing inbound opportunities for public speaking engagements and expanding applicant pools for open positions.
- Commitment to promoting the organization’s mission and impact in unlocking clean, renewable energy sources, specifically geothermal energy.
- Ability to work full-time in Salt Lake City, UT, and be eligible for benefits.
