Job Description
The Head of Government Affairs will develop and execute strategies to influence policy and regulatory frameworks at federal and state levels, supporting the accelerated development of geothermal energy by building relationships with policymakers, advocating for permitting reforms, and ensuring the company's interests are represented in the clean energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop Zanskar's policy and regulatory strategy for geothermal development.
- Represent the company to federal and state legislative and administrative leaders.
- Modernize the regulatory landscape to enable faster geothermal exploration, development, and operations.
- Own and execute the company's political and policy strategy.
- Engage with geothermal coalitions, clean energy alliances, and advocacy groups to promote permitting reform and geothermal prioritization.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify and address regulatory risks related to permitting, drilling, land access, and project development.
- Build and maintain relationships with key federal and state agencies and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience in leading policy and regulatory strategy related to energy, preferably in geothermal or renewable energy sectors.
- Ability to represent the company to legislative and administrative leaders at both the federal and state levels.
- Proven track record of modernizing regulatory landscapes for exploration, development, and operations in the energy sector.
- Experience in driving reforms that enable faster and more scalable deployment of energy projects.
- Experience in leading engagement with geothermal coalitions, clean energy alliances, and advocacy groups to advance permitting reform and geothermal prioritization.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with teams such as Land and Development to identify and address regulatory risks related to permitting, drilling, land access, and project development.
- Within six months, demonstrated ability to build and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy that enhances the company's presence across key federal and state agencies.
- Established relationships with senior stakeholders at the Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management, congressional energy staff, and relevant state regulatory bodies.
- Strong political instincts and bipartisan mindset.
- Passion for making policy work in service of innovation in the energy sector.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: 135K - 205K
Work schedule: Full-time
Work environment perks: Location flexibility with Washington, DC or Salt Lake City, UT and frequent travel
