Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer-Data Center is responsible for designing, overseeing, and managing electrical systems for hyperscale data centers, renewable energy projects, and energy storage solutions, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance throughout project lifecycle while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

Create, manage, and review electrical engineering design standards and specifications for data center projects.
Design and deliver electrical systems for hyperscale data centers, including power distribution, backup power, and emergency systems.
Ensure electrical designs comply with industry codes and standards, including NEC and IEC.
Provide technical oversight throughout the data center lifecycle, from concept to commissioning.
Lead and manage large-scale, multi-site electrical engineering projects across regions.
Coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with overall data center infrastructure.
Support field engineering, testing, validation, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
Review and optimize designs for LV, MV, HV systems, transformers, and substations for data centers, solar, and energy storage projects.
Work with clients to understand project requirements related to reliability, scalability, sustainability, and cost optimization.
Participate in project meetings, manage design development sessions, and review submittals and RFIs.
Support equipment selection, vendor management, and development of electrical specifications.
Design and manage data center white space, including rack layout, power requirements, and cable pathways.
Research and evaluate new electrical design materials, methods, and technologies for data centers.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience working in Electrical Engineering for data centers or Utility-scale solar and storage power plants.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) specializing in Power Systems from an ABET-accredited University; a Master of Science (MS) degree is a plus.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to data centers and power generation.
Demonstrated strong engineering, design, and communication skills, and an ability to work in a dynamic team environment to think outside the box and solve traditional problems in new ways.
Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Revit.
In-depth knowledge of Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV) collection, transmission line, converters, and HVAC HVDC substation design including substation Protection Control, SCADA, and Telecommunications.
Experience in designing electrical building systems for data centers, On-Site Renewable Energy Generation, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Renewable Energy Credits (RECs), Microgrids, and Energy Storage.
Skilled in designing backup power solutions with varying redundancy levels based on data center load criticality.
Ability to complete work independently and handle most unique situations autonomously.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and work effectively in a team environment.
Strong knowledge of data center critical environment electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
Experience in designing, integrating, and managing SCADA systems, and strong knowledge of network infrastructure within data centers to ensure efficient and secure operations.
Experience in vendor management.
Expertise in cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
Understanding of industrial and commercial electrical one-lines.
Experience with BMS, EPMS control systems, and data collection trending.
Experience in developing MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs for systems operations.
Knowledge of data center PUE and its derivation, as well as data center redundancy requirements at the network and power levels.
Travel requirement of up to 20 domestic and international trips.
