The internship involves leading data migration and modernization efforts for time-series data, designing scalable data pipelines, and enabling AI-driven data access within a dynamic energy and digital infrastructure company.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and understand time-series data stored in the Canary Historian system
Design and implement components of a scalable data migration pipeline to Azure Blob Storage
Transform and structure large datasets for efficient storage, query performance, and cost optimization
Define data schemas, partitioning strategies, and storage formats such as Parquet
Validate data integrity and ensure reliability throughout the migration process
Contribute to building mechanisms for AI chatbot access, including APIs and retrieval pipelines
Collaborate with IT and Data Science teams to integrate data into downstream systems
Evaluate architectural approaches for performance, cost, and scalability
Document technical designs, decisions, and best practices
Present technical solutions and their business impact to stakeholders
Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
Strong programming skills in Python or similar language
Experience working with data, e.g., Pandas, SQL, or similar tools
Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design fundamentals
Ability to analyze and understand time-series data stored in the Canary Historian system
Ability to design and implement components of a scalable data migration pipeline to Azure Blob Storage
Experience transforming and structuring large datasets for efficient storage, query performance, and cost optimization
Ability to define data schemas, partitioning strategies, and storage formats such as Parquet
Experience validating data integrity and ensuring reliability throughout the migration process
Ability to contribute to building mechanisms for AI chatbot access, e.g., APIs, query layers, or retrieval pipelines
Experience collaborating with IT and Data Science teams to integrate data into downstream systems
Ability to evaluate trade-offs between different architectural approaches considering performance, cost, and scalability
Experience documenting technical designs, decisions, and best practices
Ability to present technical solutions and business impact to stakeholders
