Job Description

The role involves overseeing the development and strategy of hyperspectral data products from Planet's satellite constellation, collaborating across teams to ensure product growth, and delivering valuable insights for commercial, government, and non-profit customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, evolution, and scaling of hyperspectral data products.
  • Define and maintain the product roadmap for hyperspectral offerings, prioritizing features based on customer needs and company strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Science, Engineering, Legal) to align product development and strategy.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and set product requirements accordingly.
  • Drive commercial growth by expanding market presence, especially in methane and new markets.
  • Work with platform teams to ensure customer access and usability of hyperspectral products.
  • Make strategic tradeoffs and decisions to balance competing priorities and constraints in product development.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a power-user of satellite imagery, remote sensing, and GIS, preferably with experience using hyperspectral imagery.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguity, assess risk, and make high-quality decisions with incomplete data, with strong product judgment and a proven track record of making difficult tradeoffs without relying on consensus.
  • Experience in an industry where advanced sensing could be applied such as defense, atmospheric sciences, agriculture, energy, environmental conservation, or geology.
  • A solid understanding of the benefits and challenges of processing and analyzing Earth Observation (EO) data.
  • Proven capacity for delighting customers.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Outstanding executive communication skills, including speaking and writing, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills.
  • Ability to collaborate well across a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Access to export-controlled information, and the ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
