Job Description
A Staff Software Engineer at Samsara's Fleet Safety team will lead the design and development of software solutions to improve fleet safety using GPS tracking and AI dash cam hardware, influencing technical architecture and supporting the company's growth in connected operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop software for enterprise fleet operations
- Influence the vision and roadmap of the fleet safety team
- Design and build a streamlined state machine for event ingestion and tracking
- Architect an improved safety event mocking system to enhance testing capabilities
- Lead the response to production issues across services and system layers
- Contribute to technical design and architecture to enable complex features and customer use cases
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 8 years of experience building customer-facing applications
- Stellar programming coding fundamentals
- Expertise working on large-scale enterprise software applications
- Mastery in data modeling and full-stack application architecture at a massive scale (preferred but not mandatory)
- Experience collaborating with embedded systems teams (preferred but not mandatory)
- Technical mastery in Go, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C, C++, or other similar languages
- Strong communication skills and ability to drive decisions across teams
