Job Description

The Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for supporting the sales team by demonstrating and implementing IoT solutions, providing technical expertise, and ensuring successful deployment of hardware and software products to help modernize essential industries and improve operational safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of IoT hardware, sensors, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Assist customers with hardware installation, deployment planning, and best practices.
  • Create and write scripts using open APIs to solve real-world problems for clients.
  • Manage data collection over carrier networks and build system integrations via open APIs.
  • Act as a technical liaison between product and sales teams, translating feedback and supporting beta programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from a 4 year accredited university
  • Professional fluency in both French and English, written and verbal
  • At least 2 years of experience working with customers in a pre-sales, technical consulting, solutions architect, customer success, or customer product support capacity
  • Ability to influence stakeholders based on technical sales acumen and a solid understanding of business processes and change management
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Previous experience managing hardware and/or software product evaluations
  • Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems
  • Experience with technical consulting, cloud software, cloud-connected hardware, computer networking, business systems integration, automation, and control systems
  • Work experience in task automation scripting and transferring data between systems using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent language
  • Experience building solutions leveraging open APIs
  • Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including Controller Area Networks (CAN bus) and Power Take Off (PTO) applications
  • Ability to develop deployment plans and explain best practices for installing Samsara products
  • Ability to write scripts against open APIs and document them for team use
  • Ability to act as a technical liaison between product and sales teams, translating technical feedback and enrolling customers in beta programs
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and manage customer relationships during technical evaluations and solutions deployment
