Job Description
The Firmware Quality Engineer at Samsara will be responsible for ensuring the quality of Vehicle Gateway products through test engineering, automation, and data analysis, while promoting a culture of quality within the team. This role involves creating and maintaining test suites, conducting manual and automated tests, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve high-quality product releases.
Responsibilities
- •Advocate for Quality within the Firmware Quality pod.
- •Define quality goals and expand test coverage with the Quality Engineering Lead Manager and Product teams.
- •Create and maintain comprehensive and effective test suites.
- •Prioritize automation of regression and manual test cases.
- •Run systems-level manual and automated acceptance tests and real-world driving tests.
- •Write detailed test cases and strategy for IoT devices and accessories connectivity.
- •Diagnose issues and perform root cause analysis with developers.
- •Lead test planning and execution for major firmware releases and new hardware.
- •Mentor junior QA engineers and provide guidance on best practices.
- •Analyze product quality data and deliver actionable insights to product development teams.
Requirements
- •Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field, preferably Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- •4 years of experience in a quality engineering function.
- •Strong technical understanding of embedded distributed systems.
- •Working experience with automated test environments and building of test beds with physical hardware.
- •Proven abilities for effective low-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- •Strong communication skills, comfortable working with teams from diverse backgrounds.
- •1 year of experience in embedded systems testing, preferably in Automotive and IoT.
- •Proficiency with Serial Data Communication including CAN and SPI.
- •Experience with Automotive Test Tools including vSpy, dSpace, CANalyzer.
- •Proficiency with Scripting and Querying Languages such as Python, SQL, and CAPL.
