Job Description
A Field Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for demonstrating and implementing IoT solutions to modernize essential industries, providing technical expertise, supporting hardware and software deployment, and building strong customer relationships to drive digital transformation and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop expertise in Samsara IoT products and articulate their value to prospects.
- Conduct customer demonstrations, value assessments, and proof of concept implementations.
- Guide hardware installation, build deployment plans, and explain best practices to installers.
- Create sample proof-of-concept scripts using open APIs to solve real-world customer problems.
- Identify customer value and support account integration, upselling, and cross-selling opportunities.
- Act as a technical liaison between product and sales teams, providing feedback and enrolling customers in beta programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's of Science degree from a 4-year accredited university.
- 5 years of experience working with customers in a pre-sales, customer success, or customer product support capacity.
- Ability to influence stakeholders based on your technical sales acumen and a solid understanding of business processes and change management.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Previous experience managing hardware and or software product evaluations.
- Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems.
- Experience with technical consulting, cloud software, cloud-connected hardware, computer networking, business systems integration, automation, and control systems.
- Work experience in task automation scripting and transferring data between systems using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or an equivalent language.
- Work experience building solutions leveraging open APIs.
- Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including Controller Area Networks (CAN bus) and Power Take Off (PTO) applications.
- Skilled in identifying customer value and delivering solutions that focus on what is most important to the customer.
- Ability to manage and evaluate hardware and software product evaluations.
- Proficiency in articulating technical solutions and conducting demonstrations, value assessments, proof of concept implementations, and deployment planning.
- Experience in creating sample proof-of-concept scripts against open APIs and documenting them for team use.
- Ability to build deployment plans and explain best practices for installing IoT hardware and sensors.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time and proximity to an international airport (for remote candidates within the specified regions).
- Ideal candidates should be physically located in Denver, San Francisco, Phoenix, or Seattle.
