Job Description
An Engineer II at RES supports the design and implementation of stream and wetland restoration, stormwater, and nature-based infrastructure projects through technical analysis, modeling, and field assessments, contributing to ecological solutions and environmental restoration efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of stream and wetland restoration, stormwater management, and ecological site plans
- Prepare grading, drainage designs, and modeling flows using tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D and HEC-RAS
- Assist with field site assessments, data collection, and construction observation to ensure design implementation
- Develop concept-level and detailed design plans, support permit submissions, and contribute technical details
- Compile plan sets for regulatory review and support technical analysis for project delivery
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, ecological engineering or water resources
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- At least 2 years of professional experience in an engineering-related field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, TR-55, FlowMaster, Rivermorph, or GIS
- Experience preparing or supporting erosion and sediment control, stormwater, or restoration plan sets
- A solid understanding of stream geomorphology, hydraulics, sediment transport, and/or BMP sizing
- Familiarity with jurisdictional design standards and basic permitting requirements
- Ability to support occasional fieldwork, including site assessments, QA QC, and construction observation
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team under the guidance of senior staff
