Job Description
A Fire Sprinkler Test Inspection Lead Tech is responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems, ensuring compliance with safety codes, and reporting deficiencies, while providing professional communication and adhering to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, and maintain fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflows according to NFPA codes
- Record and report deficiencies of fire protection systems to SFS and customers
- Communicate professionally with internal and external customers and monitoring companies
- Properly operate tools required for inspections
- Plan, coordinate, and complete inspections on schedule
- Maintain company vehicle and tools in good condition
- Follow safety programs, policies, and procedures, and keep safety documentation accessible
- Attend seminars to stay updated on technology and testing methods
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
- NICET Level II certification in water-based systems and/or a state-required certification based on location.
- 3 to 5 years of experience inspecting fire protection systems.
- Knowledge and ability to understand and operate basic computer functions such as Windows, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Apple iOS, and Android.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Valid state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Pre-employment background check, DMV record check if applicable, and drug screening if required.
- Ability to inspect, test, and maintain fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflows in accordance with NFPA codes.
- Ability to record and report deficiencies of fire protection systems to SFS and customers.
- Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external customers, including offsite monitoring companies.
- Proper use and operation of tools required to complete inspections.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and complete inspections as scheduled in a timely manner.
- Availability to be in an on-call status as required by location to handle emergency service and inspection requests.
- Understanding and following SFS safety program, SDS book, hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of safety documentation location at each project site.
- Willingness to attend seminars periodically to stay updated on technology, installation, and testing approaches.
