The Sales Engineer OEM role involves driving sales of Phoenix Contact products by combining technical knowledge with interpersonal skills, building customer relationships, identifying growth opportunities, providing technical support, and supporting the sales process within the Seattle metro and Northwestern WA regions.
Key Responsibilities
Drive sales of Phoenix Contact products within the assigned territory by meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
Identify customer needs, recommend suitable products or solutions, and support technical aspects of the sales process.
Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers through regular communication and engagement.
Generate new sales opportunities and develop account growth through ongoing outreach and collaboration with stakeholders.
Prepare proposals, presentations, and sales materials to support sales activities.
Utilize CRM systems effectively to track customer interactions, report on activities, and measure performance.
Deliver product presentations and hands-on demonstrations to promote solutions and technology.
Qualify and follow up on sales opportunities and quotations within the account portfolio.
Collaborate with internal teams, including Channel and Field Application Engineering, to ensure customer satisfaction and sales success.
Develop and implement mutual action plans with assigned customers to foster long-term relationships.
Requirements
Must be able to travel via airplane and automobile for up to six hours at a time, including overnight travel as dictated by the assigned territory.
Must have a valid driver s license and be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Must be able to comply with company dress code guidelines.
Must demonstrate punctuality and regular, on-time attendance.
Must have a minimum of 1 to 3 years of sales experience in the electronics or industrial automation controls marketplace.
Experience working with distribution is preferred.
Four-year degree is preferred, or equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
Must be self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
Must demonstrate technical competence on all products and solutions within the area of focus.
Must be able to develop and maintain a working knowledge of all Phoenix Contact products and solutions.
Must be able to qualify and follow up on all opportunities within the assigned account portfolio, including follow-up on all quotations.
Must be proficient in BASE selling skills and able to implement them to build strong customer relationships.
Must be capable of delivering presentations and hands-on demonstrations of Phoenix Contact products, applications, and technology.
Must be able to support the preparation of proposals, presentations, and sales materials.
Must be able to generate new opportunities within assigned accounts through ongoing communication, relationship development, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
Must be able to support the development of field presentations and application notes in collaboration with product teams.
Must be able to fully utilize all sales tools provided, including CRM systems, to support local markets and maximize productivity.
Must be able to track and report on business development activities and performance metrics.
Must be able to independently and/or with regional management develop and implement effective Mutual Action Plans with assigned customer locations.
Must be able to deliver technical support throughout the sales process, including providing forecasts and reports to RSM as required.
Must demonstrate the ability to differentiate Phoenix Contact from other component vendors by building partner relationships with customers.
