Job Description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, technical and operational accounting, and debt management for a renewable energy company's independent power production business, ensuring compliance and supporting company growth in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and execute all financial reporting, technical accounting, and operational accounting for the company's independent power production business and tax equity entity.
  • Maintain accounting processes and controls, including documentation, for the independent power production business.
  • Manage and execute all tax equity entity tax reporting and annual audit processes.
  • Manage accounting for all company debt, including draws, debt covenants, and cash sweep analysis.
  • Review business contracts for technical and operational accounting implications and oversee their implementation.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of the company's financial systems.
  • Contribute to the company's technical accounting, audit processes, and ad hoc accounting initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting and finance policies and procedures in daily operations.
  • Support process improvements and system efficiencies across the accounting function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting.
  • Active CPA certification.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience across public accounting and industry.
  • Big 4 accounting experience preferred.
  • Renewable energy accounting experience.
  • Tax equity entity accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated high degree of time management and organizational skills resulting in the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at various stages of delivery with competing deadlines.
  • Proactive and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to clearly communicate problems and identify possible resolutions.
  • Ability to apply a systems mindset to own workflow, across the accounting function, and cross-functionally.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with a team-oriented approach to work, contributing to a supportive, collaborative, and cross-functional team environment.
  • Comfortable operating in a hybrid remote and in-person team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Sage Intacct or NetSuite preferred.
  • Experience managing and executing all financial reporting inclusive of period close, technical accounting, and operational accounting for tax equity entity and independent power production business.
  • Experience maintaining accounting processes and controls, including documentation, for the company's independent power production business.
  • Experience owning and executing tax equity entity annual audit and tax reporting in collaboration with V.P. Corporate Controller.
  • Experience managing and executing all accounting for company debt, including managing draws, supporting documents, debt cash sweep analysis, and debt covenants.
  • Experience reviewing signed business contracts for technical and operational accounting implications, suggesting resolutions, and managing implementation.
  • Experience participating in ongoing development and maintenance of financial systems.
  • Experience contributing to company technical accounting and supporting overall accounting team ad hoc items and initiatives.
  • Ability to ensure adherence to company accounting and finance policies and procedures in day-to-day practice.
  • Ability to support process improvements reflecting accounting risk, controls, and efficiency, and to implement changes timely.

Compensation/salary range: $130,000 - $180,000 depending on location and experience
