Job Description
The Lead Security Engineer at Octopus Energy is responsible for defining and leading the company's security practices, securing software development and platform services, and shaping a culture of security within a cloud-first environment. The role involves managing a team, engaging in hands-on engineering, and driving organizational security initiatives to support the company's growth and green energy mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and shape the technical direction of the security engineering team.
- Secure software development processes and platform services.
- Integrate security practices across the organization.
- Build and support a world-class security support service for employees.
- Lead a team of up to 6 security engineers.
- Perform hands-on security engineering work as needed.
- Drive security by design within cloud technologies.
- Contribute to organizational change to enhance security posture.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in security engineering or a related field.
- Experience leading a team of up to 6 people in a security engineering or cybersecurity environment.
- Ability to help shape the technical direction of the security engineering function within the organization.
- Experience securing software development processes and platform services.
- Experience integrating security practices into organizational workflows.
- Ability to help shape and promote a culture of security within the organization.
- Experience working in a Cloud-First organization and a passion for Cloud technologies.
- Ability to drive security by design principles in system and software development.
- Willingness and ability to perform hands-on engineering work as part of the role.
