Job Description
A Data Analyst in Finance at Octopus Energy is responsible for analyzing and validating the company's cost data, improving financial controls, and developing automated processes to better understand and manage costs, working closely with finance and business teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand, validate, and control the company's cost base through data analysis.
- Collaborate with Finance and Gross Margin teams to build and maintain a cost accruals process.
- Partner with other teams to analyze how costs arise in the business.
- Develop scalable and automated processes to improve cost controls and reporting.
Requirements
- A strong understanding of finance and accounting to help understand, validate, and control the company's cost base.
- Experience working closely with finance teams, specifically with finance and gross margin teams, to build and maintain a robust cost accruals process.
- Ability to partner with other teams across the business to understand how costs arise in the real world.
- Experience in turning insights into scalable, automated processes.
- Curiosity and attention to detail, with a focus on getting under the hood of complex data.
- Experience in improving controls, building new processes, and developing systems related to data and finance.
