Job Description

A Backend Engineer at Loft Orbital will develop and maintain backend services and data pipelines that process and deliver satellite payload data, working closely with various teams to ensure reliable and scalable data movement from satellites to customers.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain backend services that ingest, process, categorize, and reliably deliver satellite payload data.
Design and scale microservices and data pipelines between ground segment, satellite operations, and customer delivery systems.
Collaborate with backend, ground software, flight software, space infrastructure, and customer operations teams to optimize data flow and system performance.

Requirements

Experience in designing and scaling microservices and data pipelines that sit between ground segment, satellite operations, and customer deliveries.
Proficiency in building backend systems that move and transform satellite data at scale.
Ability to work closely with backend, ground software, flight software, space infrastructure, and customer operations teams.
Experience with ingesting data from ground stations, processing and categorizing it, tracking it end to end, and reliably delivering it to internal tools and external endpoints.
Willingness to write code and operate spacecraft using SatDevOps tools.
Experience in developing backend services that handle payload data from satellites to customers.
Ability to contribute to the design and implementation of data management services for satellite payload data.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment with mission-critical data processing and delivery.
Strong understanding of data pipelines, microservices architecture, and backend development best practices.
