Job Description

The Head of AI Engineering at Loft Space Made Simple leads the technical strategy and execution of AI services for space missions, overseeing the development and integration of AI models and tools within the company's satellite operations platform to deliver structured space intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Own the technical strategy and execution of the AI Marketplace and Loft Labs ML tooling.
Define what gets built and how, bridging research and production engineering teams.
Set technical standards for AI services deployed on the platform.
Collaborate with engineering, Solutions, and Architecture teams to ensure seamless integration of AI services with satellite operations platform and partner ecosystem.
Establish clear boundaries between marketplace and ML-specific capabilities owned by the AI team and those developed by platform teams.

Requirements

Extensive experience in AI engineering, including ownership of technical strategy and execution for AI platforms, marketplaces, or ML tooling.
Proven ability to define what gets built and how, bridging research teams and production engineers, and setting technical standards for AI services.
Experience working closely with engineering, solutions, and architecture teams to ensure seamless integration of AI services with satellite operations platforms and partner ecosystems.
Ability to establish clear boundaries between marketplace and ML-specific capabilities owned by the AI team and those developed by existing platform teams.
Strong leadership skills as the most senior technical leader within an AI team, with the ability to own and direct technical strategy.
Experience in deploying AI models and services in a satellite or space-related environment is preferred.
Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams across multiple international offices.
Educational background in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines (specific degree requirements not explicitly stated but implied).
