Job Description
An Engineering Manager role focused on leading a team of engineers to develop and maintain scalable platform capabilities, improve internal tools, and drive strategic technical initiatives that support EnergyHub's mission of creating a clean, distributed energy future.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, manage, and mentor a team of engineers working on platform capabilities.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define the team's mission, vision, and roadmap.
- Provide strategic oversight and architectural direction for new initiatives.
- Act as a technical partner to Product, QA, Analytics, and client-facing teams, translating needs into technical plans.
- Ensure the team delivers quality, scalable, well-tested code on time and within scope.
- Improve team performance through organizational evolution, process improvements, and technical skill development.
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to existing codebase as needed.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience directly managing teams of developers, ideally with teams of 5-7 members.
- Core technical knowledge and experience with Java, Spring, AWS EC2, ECS, MongoDB, and PostGres.
- Experience with other technologies such as Python and C .NET to drive automation and micro-service efforts.
- Strong foundational understanding of computer science principles and SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) best practices.
- Experience with architecture, scalability, and reliability, particularly in developing consumable APIs.
- Ability to learn from challenging projects with appropriate corrections to improve process, resource allocation, and coaching.
- Ability to work well with ambiguity and in a dynamic work environment.
- Belief in a test-first approach to coding.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $160,000 - $195,000 USD
