Job Description
The Director of Sales, Travel Trade is responsible for leading and developing a sales team focused on group and travel trade sales, implementing marketing strategies, analyzing sales data, and identifying new business opportunities to drive revenue and enhance the visitor experience at the Empire State Building.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, train, and lead a team of sales professionals targeting group and travel trade sales
- Develop and implement marketing plans relevant to travel trade sales
- Assess the existing sales team, make recommendations, and analyze sales data
- Set sales targets and identify opportunities for improvement
- Manage daily sales operations and track sales performance
- Interpret sales data and lead performance reporting
- Build and develop strong relationships within the industry
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Support the development of innovative sales strategies
Requirements
- Experience in the field of sales, specifically in group sales and the travel trade industry.
- Experience in the NYC tourism market is helpful but not necessary.
- History of successful identification of new business opportunities.
- Support the development of innovative sales strategies.
- Ability to build, train, and lead a team of sales professionals.
- Ability to assess the existing sales team and make recommendations for improvement.
- Experience analyzing sales data, reviewing and setting sales targets.
- Experience managing daily sales operations.
- Ability to track sales performance and interpret sales data.
- Experience leading reporting on sales performance, including what has been tried, current initiatives, and next steps, in a digestible and trend-able way for departmental updates.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ownership of relationships in the industry and ability to develop strong industry relationships.
- Experience deploying or thinking about the deployment of technology in sales or related positions.
