Job Description

The Cloud Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, operating, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that supports large-scale energy modeling and analytics, ensuring system reliability, security, and transparency to inform energy and climate policy decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and operate cloud infrastructure to support large-scale modeling and analytics.
  • Own the architecture and governance of AWS, GitHub, and related cloud environments.
  • Implement standards, automation, and guardrails to enable rapid yet disciplined team workflows.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, analysts, and IT to improve infrastructure.
  • Maintain system reliability, security, and transparency for client-facing analyses and reports.

Requirements

  • Design and operate the cloud infrastructure that powers large-scale modeling and analytics across the firm, ensuring the reliability, security, and transparency of systems used to create high-impact, client-facing analyses and reports.
  • Own the architecture and governance of E3's AWS, GitHub, and related environments, and implement standards, automation, and guardrails that allow teams to move quickly without losing discipline.
  • Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, analysts, and corporate IT to directly implement infrastructure improvements.
  • Possess a high level of autonomy with authority over cloud architecture and provisioning, and be responsible for hands-on platform ownership.
  • Be able to work for extended hours in front of a computer screen and conduct meetings on the telephone and virtually.
  • Have the ability to work in a hybrid and flexible work environment, including working from the office at least 2-3 days per week, usually including Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Possess experience with cloud systems, specifically AWS and GitHub, and related environments.
  • Demonstrate the ability to implement standards, automation, and guardrails in cloud infrastructure.
  • Have experience working collaboratively with software engineers, data scientists, analysts, and IT teams to improve infrastructure.
  • Possess relevant technical skills for cloud platform management, including infrastructure architecture, automation, and governance.
  • Be committed to professional growth and development, including participation in onboarding, training programs, and ongoing education.
  • Have the ability to adapt to changing project needs and safety requirements in a hybrid work environment.
