Job Description
Assist in the design and development of interior spaces through all project phases, including creating drawings, selecting furnishings, and participating in client meetings and construction administration activities, within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior interior designer and project manager in executing project goals across all phases, including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
- Develop interior space designs through planning, three-dimensional studies, and documentation such as floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and details.
- Support in furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) selection, layout, and specifications throughout project phases.
- Produce drawings that meet project time, cost, and quality constraints while applying building and life safety codes.
- Create renderings and presentation materials, adhering to drawing standards.
- Participate in client meetings to gain interaction and presentation experience.
- Conduct site visits, review submittals and shop drawings, and assist in construction administration activities.
- Mentor less experienced staff and contribute to the development of project documents.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or relevant field required.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
- Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
- Must be able to participate in the development of project’s technical or design characteristics and content.
- Strong creative design portfolio is essential.
- Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
- Ability to produce drawings in conformance with project time, cost, and quality constraints.
- Ability to identify, research, and apply building and life safety codes to applicable interior design work.
- Ability to prepare renderings and other presentation materials.
- Ability to participate in client meetings with Senior Interior Designer to gain client interaction and presentation experience.
- Ability to participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch list.
- Physical ability to perform site visits, which frequently require a walk-through of the site.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Ability to mentor less experienced interior design staff and provide guidance in the development of project documents.
- Adherence to CannonDesign drawing standards.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Mandatory completion of internal training, including compliance training, within required timeframes.
- Ability to work in a hybrid work environment, including site visits and office work.
