Job Description
A Structural Designer assists engineers with field evaluations of industrial structures and develops detailed BIM 3D and 2D AutoCAD drawings, focusing on structural repairs and assessments across various materials such as steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field evaluations and measurements of existing structures to develop repair drawings
- Develop detailed structural drawings of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
- Lead in the development of evaluation report design portions
- Review drawings produced by others
- Create BIM 3D and 2D AutoCAD drawings of engineered sketches
- Assist engineers in field evaluations of industrial structures
- Drive the development of business applications for emerging technologies
Requirements
- Possess a 2-year technical degree
- Minimally have 3 years of experience in the relevant field
- Proficiency with 2D AutoCAD and BIM 3D Modelling
- Exposure to Bluebeam, and REVIT experience is required
- Experience with CADWorx, S3D, E3D, and Advanced Steel is preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office is required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on any field assignment
- Must possess physical mobility on the ground and at heights
- Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection
- Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing appropriate PPE
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces
- Must adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site
- Must meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site
