Job Description
The Associate Structural Engineer is responsible for leading field evaluations of industrial structures, analyzing data, developing models, and designing rehabilitation or replacement plans, while supporting construction quality and safety in various industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field evaluation of existing industrial structures
- Develop calculations and analytical models for steel, concrete, and other materials
- Design rehabilitation or replacement plans and specify materials
- Write reports and provide technical support and quality control for structural construction
- Conduct root cause failure analysis of structural defects
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Structural Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural engineering
- E.I.T. licensure required; P.E. licensure preferred
- Knowledge of STAAD SAP, ACI 318, AISC, ASCE-7, and IBC required
- Familiarity with AWS D.1. code required
- AutoCAD experience preferred
- Basic team coordination experience required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead field evaluation of existing structures
- Ability to develop calculations and analytical models in steel, concrete, and other materials
- Ability to design rehabilitation and/or replacement plans
- Ability to specify materials and write reports
- Ability to provide technical support and quality control of structural construction
- Must possess physical mobility on the ground and at heights
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection
- Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing PPE
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces
- Must meet client-specific site requirements prior to deployment, including adherence to drug testing and facial hair safety policies
