Assist with geothermal drilling operations by setting up and operating drilling equipment, maintaining safety standards, and supporting team activities to ensure efficient and safe project execution in the Northeast U.S.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Lead Driller in daily geothermal drilling operations, including setting up and operating drilling equipment
Monitor and maintain drilling equipment, troubleshooting as needed
Handle and prepare drilling tools, pipes, and other equipment
Transport equipment and materials to and from the drill site
Follow safety protocols and ensure worksite compliance with health and safety regulations
Assist in operating mud systems, pressure control equipment, and other drilling systems
Keep accurate records of drilling activities, work progress, downtime, and equipment performance
Support general labor tasks such as rig setup, managing materials, and maintaining a safe work environment
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on tools and equipment
Requirements
Assist the Lead Driller in daily drilling operations, including setting up and operating drilling equipment, monitoring and maintaining equipment during the drilling process, troubleshooting as necessary, and performing routine maintenance and inspections on tools and equipment.
Handle and prepare drilling tools, pipes, and other equipment for use during operations, and transport equipment and materials to and from the drill site as needed.
Follow safety protocols and ensure the worksite is organized and compliant with health and safety regulations, including meeting proper safety and environmental standards during all phases of drilling operations.
Keep accurate records of daily drilling activities, including work progress, downtime, and equipment performance.
Support the team with general labor tasks such as setting up rig structures, managing materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Understand and follow utility locate law and compliance procedures, safety protocols, instructions, and quality regulations.
Work a minimum of thirty (30) hours each week to maintain full-time status for benefits purposes, with an expectation of an average of forty (40) hours per week including overtime as scheduled.
Travel 100% in the greater Northeast Region of the United States, including states such as Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Maryland, and be willing to be away from home Monday through Friday with lodging provided for overnight stays.
Possess a High School Diploma or GED; an active CDL is strongly preferred.
Have prior experience operating drilling equipment, with at least 5 years of construction and/or drilling experience in NY, NJ, CT, or MA.
Possess or be willing to obtain a Master Drilling license (a plus).
Hold NGWA certification (preferred).
Have experience with geothermal heat pumps.
Understand and follow safety protocols, utility locate laws, and compliance procedures related to drilling operations.
Be able to perform physical demands required for a safety-sensitive position, including working in a work site setting, and meeting physical requirements necessary for drilling operations.
