Job Description
The role involves overseeing daily geothermal drilling operations, managing crews, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, troubleshooting operational issues, and coordinating with stakeholders to meet project goals efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily geothermal drilling activities across multiple sites.
- Ensure drilling operations comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Manage and coordinate drilling crews, providing training and performance oversight.
- Monitor drilling progress, quality, and efficiency to meet project goals and timelines.
- Oversee maintenance, procurement, and logistics of drilling equipment and materials.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and collaborate with engineers and geologists to optimize drilling techniques.
- Control and manage drilling budgets, reducing costs and waste.
- Generate reports on drilling progress, safety incidents, and equipment usage for upper management.
- Liaise with government agencies, landowners, and community stakeholders to address concerns and ensure permit compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
- 7 years of experience overseeing a drilling operation within geothermal, or the oil and gas fields required.
- Oversight experience, preferably in a regional or multi-site environment required.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals and objectives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Solid understanding of operational principles, processes, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Willingness to travel within the region as needed.
- OSHA 30 certification is required; in lieu of certification, must be willing to complete OSHA 30 training within the first 90 days of employment.
- Ability to work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week, with non-exempt employees eligible for overtime pay and exempt employees may be required to work additional hours as necessary.
- Must be willing to travel 100% within the greater Northeast Region of the United States (CT, MA, NY, ME, VT, NH, NJ), including being away from home Monday through Friday, with scheduled Saturdays, and lodging provided for overnight stays.
- Work site setting is a field work environment.
- This is a safety-sensitive position, requiring compliance with drug and alcohol testing policies, including pre-employment background check, criminal history check, and pre-employment drug screen, in accordance with DOT regulations 49 CFR 40.25.
- Must be physically capable of meeting the physical demands of the job, which is a safety-sensitive position.
- Ability to oversee and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal drilling regulations, environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Ability to lead and manage drilling crews, ensuring proper training and performance.
- Experience in troubleshooting drilling challenges such as lost circulation, equipment failures, or geological difficulties.
- Ability to coordinate with engineers and geologists to optimize drilling techniques.
- Experience in managing drilling budgets, controlling costs, and reducing waste.
- Ability to generate and present reports on drilling progress, safety incidents, and equipment usage to upper management and stakeholders.
- Experience in liaising with government agencies, environmental groups, and contractors to ensure permits and licenses are in place.
- Willingness to perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation salary range: $175,000 - $195,000 per year with annual discretionary bonus
Work schedule: Minimum 40 hours per week, with overtime as needed, travel Monday through Friday, including overnight stays with lodging provided
