Job Description
The Field Crew Chief oversees survey crews performing land and construction surveys, including planning, data collection, equipment operation, and report preparation, ensuring accurate and efficient survey operations for various projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers
- Assign and monitor field survey work
- Instruct and train survey crews in surveying methods, equipment use, and safety procedures
- Gather field survey data using GPS, total stations, and data collectors
- Perform field surveying for various projects, including installing stakes and establishing control points
- Conduct complex surveying calculations and analyze raw data for accuracy
- Prepare survey reports, maps, and records of survey
- Research existing record information such as maps, deeds, and easements
- Maintain field data records, project files, and equipment inventory
- Ensure survey field vehicle is properly stocked and maintained
Requirements
- Must possess a high school diploma.
- Must have as-built survey experience.
- Valid driver s license required.
- Must successfully complete DOT drug screening and background check, including 7-year criminal history check and Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Must be able to perform duties for extended periods in various terrains and climates, including adverse weather conditions.
- Available to travel overnight 50-75% of the time, including working nights and weekends to complete a project as necessary.
- Must possess and demonstrate outstanding and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework.
- Ability to lead and engage staff.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Must be fluent in the English language.
