Job Description
This job posting is a general call for talented professionals to join Atwell's Power Energy team, focusing on utility-scale renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, and energy storage, across various roles including design, engineering, project management, construction, and field support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop power generation and power delivery systems for utility-scale renewable projects.
- Create site plans, grading, racking layouts, and plan sets for solar, wind, and substation projects.
- Perform interconnection and power systems studies using specialized software.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and client communication as a project manager.
- Support construction activities, including field oversight, owner’s representation, and construction management.
- Conduct commissioning of renewable energy systems and substations.
Requirements
- Experience in power generation and power delivery utility-scale solar PV, BESS, wind, high-voltage substations, transmission (OH and UG), and distribution projects, with the ability to partner with developers, IPPs, utilities, and EPCs from concept through commissioning.
- Proficiency in designing solar PV layouts, equipment sizing, DC/AC collection, grounding, and conducting studies related to solar design, with exposure to tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PVcase, PVSyst, and Helioscope.
- Ability to lead or support interconnection studies and work with interconnection engineers and power systems engineers using tools like PSS E, PSCAD, ETAP, SKM, and ASPEN.
- Experience in substation design including physical substation layout, protection controls, and SCADA systems, with familiarity with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and UG trench duct bank civil site design including grading, roads, drainage, and SWPPP using Civil 3D.
- Knowledge of structural engineering for renewables, including PV BESS foundations, steel, concrete, and experience with STAAD, L-PILE, and ROBOT.
- Experience in transmission line design for overhead and underground lines, including design using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
- Experience in civil site engineering for renewables projects, including grading, roads, drainage, SWPPP, and site layout design using Civil 3D.
- Project management experience in roles such as technical project manager, owner’s engineer, construction field owner’s representative, or construction manager for solar, BESS, wind, substation, or transmission projects.
- Ability to support construction and commissioning activities, including roles such as construction manager, PV BESS substation, T-line CAD GIS designer, drafter, or surveyor supporting linear and site projects.
- Proficiency in software tools including AutoCAD, MicroStation, Plant 3D, CADWorx, GIS, and survey equipment, with certifications such as EIT, PE, PMP, NETA, OSHA preferred.
- Physical ability to support field activities related to linear and site projects, including supporting survey and geomatics work.
- Willingness to travel and support field activities as required, with flexible location preferences (remote, hybrid, on-site).
