Job Description

The Meteorologist will monitor and analyze global weather events and natural hazards, produce timely alerts and assessments, and communicate risks effectively to support emergency response and business continuity for a worldwide client base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor global weather conditions and natural hazards using forecast models, satellite imagery, and official data sources.
  • Identify high-impact weather events and natural disasters affecting the company's global customer base.
  • Produce and disseminate timely alerts and assessments to communicate potential impacts.
  • Investigate and validate real-world impacts of hazards using forecasting tools, open-source intelligence, and social media.
  • Collaborate with Global Intelligence Analysts to maintain situational awareness during major events.
  • Support customer-facing communications through reports, briefings, webinars, and responses to inquiries.

Requirements

  • An operational meteorologist with 2 to 3 years of professional forecasting experience, preferably in the private weather sector or another fast-paced, decision-driven environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science.
  • Strong forecasting skills with the ability to clearly communicate threats in plain language.
  • Ability to monitor multiple regions while maintaining keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with forecasting tools and eagerness to analyze global weather data sourced from diverse news and open-source channels.
  • Experience monitoring high-impact weather and natural hazards on a global scale and proactively communicating risks before, during, and after significant events.
  • Ability to produce and disseminate timely, high-urgency alerts and assessments that clearly communicate potential impacts to people, operations, and business continuity.
  • Ability to investigate and validate real-world impacts from weather and other hazards—including wildfires, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic activity—using professional forecasting tools, open-source intelligence, and social media.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Global Intelligence Analysts to guide impact collection and maintain real-time situational awareness before, during, and after major events.
  • Ability to contribute to customer-facing communications such as situation reports, briefings, webinars, and responses to customer inquiries.
  • Composure under pressure in a fast-paced workflow.
  • Willingness to flex hours as necessary based on the needs of the business, including working evenings, overnight, and weekend shifts.
  • Excellent writing and real-time news gathering abilities.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment supporting high-impact global weather events and natural hazards.
