Job Description
The Data Center Project Engineer supports the construction and coordination of data center infrastructure projects, ensuring high-quality delivery through communication, documentation management, and vendor oversight on-site. The role involves working closely with various teams to manage project workflows, design changes, and safety and quality checks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate communication among general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams for data center projects
- Develop and maintain tracking systems for design changes, RFIs, and change orders
- Review and request MOPs for construction procedures and risk assessment
- Onboard and manage vendors, including badging and orientation processes
- Update project management software with milestones, correspondence, and documentation
- Monitor delivery and storage of owner-furnished materials on-site
- Compile and store construction data from vendors
- Manage safety, quality, and substantial completion checklists
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent construction experience or a strong technical background such as aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar disciplines.
- 1-3 years of experience in construction or project management.
- Experience working in a data center or mission critical facility such as hospitals, military facilities, or public safety facilities.
- Knowledge of electrical systems in critical Data Center operations including utility substation feeds, transformers, switchgear, VFI Class UPS, DRUPS, PDUs, ATS, STS, SLA VRLA batteries and associated systems, diesel gas turbine generators and related fuel systems, Surge Suppression, Active Harmonic Filtering, battery monitoring systems, branch circuit monitoring systems, or SCADA systems.
- Experience in vendor negotiation and management for data center or upgrade construction contracts.
- CFC license or PMI qualification such as PMP, IPMA, or IPMC.
- Ability to work on-site near Austin, TX.
