Job Description
A Senior Geophysicist Processing role focused on fault imaging and characterization in geothermal exploration, involving seismic data processing, imaging, and interpretation to support drilling decisions in challenging geological settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Detect and characterize faults controlling geothermal fluid flow in extensional provinces and volcanic terranes
- Design survey strategies for active source seismic data acquisition
- Process seismic data and perform anisotropic depth modeling and imaging
- Interpret seismic data to support drill decisions
- Communicate uncertainty and findings clearly to internal stakeholders
Requirements
- Experience in detecting and characterizing faults that control geothermal fluid flow, with a focus on extensional provinces and volcanic terranes.
- Ability to turn active source seismic data into drill relevant decisions.
- Proficiency in survey design, acquisition, processing, anisotropic depth modeling, and imaging of seismic data.
- Strong understanding of wavefield scatterers, high wavefront attenuation, and weak impedance contrasts in seismic data interpretation.
- Experience communicating uncertainty and technical findings clearly to internal stakeholders.
- Educational background in Geophysics, Geology, or a related field (implied by the senior geophysicist role).
- Full-time employment status with a salaried compensation structure.
- Ability to work in a hybrid work environment in Salt Lake City, UT.
