Job Description
The Head of Communications will develop and execute strategic communication initiatives to promote Zanskar's geothermal exploration success, enhance public and media engagement, and position the company as a leader in geothermal energy through targeted campaigns, media relations, and content creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute the company's communication strategy targeting multiple audiences.
- Manage external PR firm to connect the company's work with media channels.
- Create engaging content using field work imagery to promote internal and external excitement.
- Support founder-led communications and craft narratives positioning Zanskar as a geothermal leader.
- Track and measure the impact of communication efforts on business objectives such as recruiting, fundraising, and regulatory reform.
Requirements
- Design and execute a comprehensive multi-audience communications strategy that is timely, targeted, technical, and sometimes viral, working closely with the co-founders and other team leads.
- Utilize modern social media channels effectively to promote Zanskar's work and mission.
- Manage an external public relations firm to connect Zanskar's work with legacy mainstream and local media channels, depending on targeted audiences.
- Create engaging and motivating content using field work imagery, including photos and videos of geologic data collection, drilling rigs, and an operating power plant, to inspire excitement internally and externally for Zanskar and geothermal power.
- Achieve measurable success within six months, including Zanskar being mentioned and/or included in most next-generation geothermal press, increased engagement on social media channels, more inbound opportunities for public speaking engagements, and larger inbound applicant pools for open positions.
- Develop and implement a measurement and reporting framework with metrics that capture the impact of communication efforts in driving share of mind and success in key business objectives such as recruiting, fundraising, and regulatory reform.
- Support founder-led communications and assist in shaping the company's narrative as a geothermal energy leader and advocate for geothermal as a key future energy source.
- Coordinate broad engagement across the company to help tell discovery stories and promote Zanskar’s impact and future potential.
- Possibly manage an internal communications team in the future to support ongoing communication efforts.
