The Water Treatment Operator Trainee assists in the daily operations and maintenance of a water treatment and distribution facility, gaining hands-on experience in water quality testing, equipment operation, and regulatory compliance while pursuing certification and professional growth in the water industry.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor water treatment plant and distribution processes and equipment, making adjustments as necessary
Perform water quality sampling, testing, and analysis to ensure regulatory compliance
Operate, maintain, and perform routine repairs on plant equipment
Utilize software for maintenance work orders and maintain records
Perform general maintenance duties of the plant
Requirements
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; or be a recent high school or college graduate; or be someone looking for a mid-career shift, indicating a minimum educational requirement of high school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to participate in the daily operations and maintenance of the Water Treatment and Distribution facility as directed by the Project Manager.
Self-motivated individual who takes pride in their work and is looking to pursue a career in the water treatment and distribution industry.
Willingness to monitor water treatment plant and distribution processes and equipment both manually and via SCADA automation, making adjustments as necessary to control their operation.
Ability to perform water quality sampling, testing, and analysis to determine compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Capability to operate, maintain, control, and perform routine repair of plant equipment, including preventive maintenance duties.
Proficiency in utilizing software programs for maintenance work orders and maintaining all necessary records.
Ability to perform general maintenance duties of the plant and other assigned duties.
Willingness to work on a rotating schedule of 4 days, 10 hours per day, either Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, with start times at 0600 and end at 1600.
Ability to participate in a 7-day on-call coverage schedule, with a stipend of $200 per week once a treatment license is obtained.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a treatment license (implied requirement for employment and on-call stipend eligibility).
