Job Description
The Wastewater Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining wastewater treatment plants, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, troubleshooting operational issues, and performing routine groundskeeping and cleaning tasks on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the wastewater treatment plant in compliance with environmental regulations
- Perform daily rounds and monitor plant equipment
- Assist with equipment repairs and troubleshoot operational issues
- Maintain plant grounds and perform cleaning tasks such as pressure washing, sweeping, and shoveling
Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
- Have experience operating a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) or industrial wastewater treatment facilities, with a demonstrated ability to perform daily rounds, troubleshoot operational problems, and assist with equipment repairs.
- Be able to operate the WWTP in compliance with applicable local, state, and Federal environmental requirements.
- Be capable of performing physical tasks including grounds keeping, pressure washing, light painting, sweeping, cleaning, and shoveling.
- Be willing to work rotating twelve-hour shifts from 12:00 AM to 12:00 PM, including nights, weekends, and legal holidays, with the possibility of overtime pay.
- Have the ability to perform daily rounds, troubleshoot, and correct operational problems at the treatment plant.
- Be able to assist with equipment repairs and perform operational troubleshooting as needed.
- Be physically capable of performing tasks such as shoveling, sweeping, pressure washing, and grounds keeping activities.
- Be willing to work in a shift schedule that involves rotating twelve-hour shifts and may include nights, weekends, or holidays.
- Be able to work overtime when required.
- Be committed to maintaining compliance with environmental regulations and producing high-quality treated wastewater.
- Be willing to participate in ongoing certification and industry credentialing activities, as the company supports employees in earning, upgrading, and maintaining certifications.
- Be able to work in both Wastewater and Industrial Wastewater treatment environments to support the treatment needs of a high-profile client.
- Be able to work safely and effectively in an industrial environment, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
