Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer in the Product Platform team responsible for building core services and APIs to manage diverse distributed energy resources, supporting the operation of virtual power plants in wholesale energy markets through systems engineering, data engineering, and full-stack development.
Key Responsibilities
- Build core services and APIs to support virtual power plants managing distributed energy resources
- Develop and maintain business logic for managing a portfolio of energy resources in wholesale markets
- Collaborate with internal and external partners across the resource lifecycle from onboarding to grid response
- Design and implement systems with high reliability, thoughtful abstractions, and root-cause solutions
- Work on both frontend and backend development, including data engineering tasks
Requirements
- Deep experience in data engineering and backend engineering, with the ability to handle complex systems and business logic related to distributed energy resources in wholesale energy markets.
- Experience with building and maintaining core services and APIs that support virtual power plants, including managing the entire lifecycle of a resource from onboarding to grid response.
- Proficiency in systems engineering principles, emphasizing high reliability, thoughtful abstractions, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
- Proficiency in programming languages including Go and Python.
- Experience with frontend development using React is encouraged, but not mandatory; candidates with frontend experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience with data-engineering tools and technologies such as Clickhouse, Deltalake, Postgres, and Kafka.
- Familiarity with techniques like Domain Driven Design to manage system complexity.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners across the entire resource lifecycle.
- Authorization to work from a home location in the US or Canada, as the company does not sponsor visas or transfers at this time.
- Ability to work primarily from the employee's home country, with travel to other countries requiring approval as per company policy.
