Job Description

The NATO Account Executive at Planet is responsible for expanding government sales within NATO's command structure by developing new business opportunities, managing sales processes, and building relationships with military and government clients to sell complex solutions related to space and data services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow Planet's government sales pipeline and book of business within NATO's command structure, agencies, and organizations.
  • Identify, qualify, negotiate, and close large and medium-sized deals with government customers.
  • Develop and maintain an extensive sales pipeline, forecast opportunities accurately, and manage customer relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as sales, marketing, solution engineering, and customer success to design solutions, conduct demonstrations, and ensure successful onboarding.
  • Navigate government procurement processes and manage contracting activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or commensurate professional experience
  • 6 years of related experience in software solutions and SaaS required along with a demonstrated track record of success
  • 6 years experience selling to government customers including understanding the nuances of Government sales cycles and how to navigate through the process
  • Success finding and winning business with Government customers examples include the NCIA, ACO, ACT, NATO HQs and Command Structure
  • Deep understanding of military operations and planning and the role of intelligence supporting military Commanders that could include Planet’s services
  • Excellent relationships across NATO, Command Structure especially ACO and ACT and Agencies and the partner ecosystem
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-starter, able to work independently under tight deadlines in start-up environment
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Salesforce.com or a similar CRM System
  • Ability to source, qualify, negotiate, and close large and medium-size deals
  • Ability to develop an extensive pipeline of new sales leads and forecast accurately when managing the incoming pipeline of opportunities
  • Experience in solution selling, carrying quota, and closing sales
  • Experience managing the contracting and Government procurement process
  • Ability to design solutions that answer customer needs in collaboration with Solution Engineering staff
  • Ability to work closely with post-sales organization and customer success team to ensure successful onboarding for new customers
