Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer in the Product Platform team responsible for developing core services and APIs that manage diverse distributed energy resources, supporting the operation of virtual power plants in wholesale energy markets through systems engineering, data engineering, and full-stack development.
Key Responsibilities
- Build core services and APIs to support Voltus's virtual power plants
- Develop and maintain business logic managing distributed energy resources in wholesale energy markets
- Collaborate with internal and external partners across the resource lifecycle from onboarding to grid response
- Design systems with high reliability, thoughtful abstractions, and root-cause analysis
- Work on both frontend and backend development, including data engineering tasks
- Utilize technologies such as AWS, Go, Python, React, Hashistack, Docker, Clickhouse, Deltalake, Postgres, and Kafka
Requirements
- Deep experience in data engineering and backend engineering, with the ability to develop and maintain core services and APIs that manage a diverse and growing portfolio of distributed energy resources in wholesale energy markets.
- Proficiency in programming languages including Go and Python, as these are part of the primary technology stack.
- Experience with systems engineering principles, emphasizing high reliability, thoughtful abstractions, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS, to deploy and manage services.
- Experience with containerization and deployment tools such as Docker.
- Experience with data-engineering tools and databases including Clickhouse, Deltalake, Postgres, and Kafka.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners across the entire resource lifecycle from onboarding to grid response.
- Experience applying systems thinking and techniques like Domain Driven Design to manage system complexity.
- Authorization to work from a home location in the US or Canada, as Voltus does not sponsor visas or transfers at this time.
- Ability to work primarily from their home country, with travel to other countries only with prior approval as per company policy.
