Job Description

The Contracts Manager will support environmental certificates and renewable gas trading operations by drafting, negotiating, and managing complex energy and commodity contracts, ensuring smooth contract lifecycle management and stakeholder collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and manage contracts for energy, commodity, and environmental certificates from initiation to completion.
  • Lead negotiations of complex commercial and operational contract terms with senior leaders and external counterparties.
  • Collaborate with front and back office teams to ensure contract terms meet commercial, legal, risk, and credit objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract records throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth contract execution and process efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and or JD.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience negotiating contracts in a commodity trading and or energy environment and collaborating with front and back office teams.
  • Demonstrable experience conducting complex commercial and operational negotiations, with regular exposure to senior leadership and external counterparties.
  • Experience with energy industry processes and operations that support contract lifecycle management.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, especially with document control and tracking deliverables.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Must be New York based and able to be in office 3 days per week.
  • Ability to support the full lifecycle of complex energy, commodity, and environmental certificate contracts, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating master trading agreements such as EEIs, PPAs, NAESBs, etc.
  • Ability to lead complex commercial and operational negotiations, including regular interaction with senior leaders and external counterparties.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing various commodity and trading-related contracts both physical and financial, as well as non-disclosure agreements, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to manage the contract lifecycle from initiation to completion.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date contract records.
