The Electrolyte R D Intern at Solid Power will assist in the research and development of solid-state electrolytes for next-generation rechargeable batteries, working alongside scientists to synthesize, characterize, and improve electrolyte materials in a collaborative laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
Execute planned experiments to modify and improve solid-state electrolytes under scientist supervision
Assist in material synthesis, characterization, data collection, and analysis
Communicate experimental results and challenges to the team
Maintain laboratory cleanliness and safety compliance
Requirements
Currently pursuing a Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience in an academic or industrial lab environment.
Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment.
Experience in material characterization techniques such as XRD, EIS, FTIR, DSC TGA, Raman, SEM EDS is a plus.
Experience in synthetic chemistry is a plus.
Experience with statistical and relevant software design of experiments (D.O.E.) is a plus.
Knowledge of Li-ion battery materials optimization and synthesis is preferred.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
Availability to work 15-20 hours during the Spring and Summer semesters.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and some prolonged periods of standing.
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR as necessary.
Ability to work in gloveboxes and dry rooms.
Access to technology, software, and information subject to export control restrictions, and continued availability of government authorization to access such items.
Employment contingent upon the results of a thorough background check.
