Job Description
The Senior Staff Quality Engineer at Sila is responsible for leading and continuously improving the company's global quality management system, ensuring compliance with industry standards, conducting audits, and driving quality initiatives across the organization to support innovative battery materials development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and improve Sila's global quality management system (QMS)
- Report on QMS performance to management
- Lead internal audit programs and coordinate external quality certifications and surveillance audits
- Manage and facilitate root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives
- Train staff on QMS processes and their roles within the system
- Drive continuous improvement and simplification of quality processes
- Steward event investigation and problem-solving programs
- Ensure systemic integrity through advanced root cause analysis tools
Requirements
- A Senior Staff Quality Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of relevant quality engineering experience within an established Quality Management System ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or GMP.
- Strong, demonstrated expertise with ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949, including extensive auditing experience such as leading internal audits and managing registrar audits; Internal Auditor certification preferred.
- Proven ability to lead, execute, and document key quality processes, including Management Review, Problem Solving, and Continuous Improvement.
- Experience in developing, executing, and continuously improving a global quality management system (QMS), including reporting QMS performance to management, and leading internal audit programs.
- Ability to steward global event investigation and problem solving programs, serving as an expert root cause analysis (RCA) facilitator.
- Experience in training Quality process owners, leaders, and employees on QMS and their roles within it.
- Ability to drive continuous improvements and simplification efforts for the QMS.
- Experience in leading and coordinating external quality certification and surveillance audits.
- Proficiency in systemic root cause analysis (RCA) using advanced analytical tools such as 8D, Fishbone Ishikawa, 5 Whys, FMEA, and statistical process control to determine the true systemic root cause of complex non-conformances.
- Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data to draw insightful, reliable conclusions that drive effective and lasting Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Ability to effectively advocate for quality initiatives and drive cross-functional change through strategic communication and influence, including distilling complex quality metrics and technical findings into clear narratives for all organizational levels, including executive leadership.
- Proven skill in leading and structuring critical meetings such as Management Review to ensure efficiency and clear, accountable outcomes, and mediating conflicts to build consensus among diverse functional groups.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring junior staff or peers on quality principles and QMS procedures, providing constructive and empathetic feedback to foster professional growth.
- Demonstrates persistence and resourcefulness to overcome obstacles, high standards of integrity, and assertiveness to ensure quality compliance.
- Physical ability to wear personal protective equipment including lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes, move long distances, and operate a computer and office equipment.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the year.
- Work schedule of regular shift Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $132,000 to $197,000
