The Commercial Director will lead efforts to develop and close industrial heat battery projects in North America by building customer relationships, developing a sales pipeline, negotiating contracts, and representing Rondo at industry events to support decarbonization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and grow a North America pipeline by originating new prospects and developing existing opportunities
Identify priority customer segments and develop sector- and sub-region-specific value propositions
Build Rondo's commercial ecosystem, including channel partners, energy developers, power providers, regulatory, and financing partners
Source and qualify customers through industry networks, events, outreach, and inbound inquiries
Represent Rondo at industry events and government or regulatory forums
Prepare project analysis, financial models, proposals, and contracts tailored to customer needs
Collaborate with engineering and finance teams on technical analysis and financing solutions
Manage customer relationships, understand decision-making processes, and navigate project closure
Maintain and advance projects within CRM, tracking development stages and key project aspects
Lead negotiations on commercial documents such as joint development agreements, term sheets, and contracts
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering
Experience in a commercial role, ideally working with the industrial sector
Experience in commercializing new energy technologies, including helping customers understand and quantify the value proposition (e.g., hydrogen, behind-the-meter BESS)
Experience with large capital equipment or large-scale project development
Experience with energy as a service commercial models
Experience evaluating and articulating new value propositions, such as energy advisory services
Proven track record in lead creation, customer relationship nurturing, navigating multi-individual decision processes in large organizations, and building a pipeline of repeat contracts both independently and as part of a team
Experience in structuring and negotiating commercial contracts to find deal solutions that meet customer and company needs
Familiarity with energy and commodity markets including electricity, gas, and carbon, and understanding of carbon value in sectors such as e-fuels
Fluency in English
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including project finance modeling and cash flow analysis
Strong skills in MS PowerPoint for developing high-quality professional presentations
Ability to prepare, write, and present techno-economic analyses
Willingness to travel within North America up to 25% and to Europe for quarterly or semi-yearly commercial team offsites
