Job Description

The Instrument Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and process control instrumentation in a manufacturing facility dedicated to producing advanced battery materials, supporting the startup and operation of the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, instrumentation, and control equipment.
  • Calibrate, test, and maintain process instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, and analytical transmitters.
  • Troubleshoot and repair automation components including PLCs, VFDs, and control valves.
  • Interpret and update electrical schematics, loop drawings, and control diagrams.
  • Support predictive and preventive maintenance programs using CMMS tools.
  • Assist with instrumentation and control system upgrades and modifications.
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, and reliability teams to improve system performance and uptime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, electrical codes, and environmental regulations.
  • Work with vendors for onsite maintenance and repairs.
  • Order and manage critical spare parts and share lessons learned to improve work processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in Instrumentation and Electrical (I E), Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of I E maintenance experience in an industrial, chemical, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic understanding of fundamental physics and its application to pressurized fluid systems and energized circuits.
  • Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P IDs).
  • Experience installing, replacing, calibrating, and troubleshooting process instruments including pressure, temperature, and flow sensors.
  • Experience performing maintenance and leak checks on various types of piping construction such as stainless steel tubing, flanged piping, threaded piping, and welded PVC pipe.
  • Experience supporting facilities equipment such as HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, lighting, and exhaust fans.
  • Experience working with industry standards such as API, NFPA, NEC, IEEE, and ANSI.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety standards, practices, codes, and regulations.
  • Preferred certifications include ISA CCST or other relevant technical certifications.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
  • OSHA 30 or NFPA 70E training.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally kneel or bend.
  • Ability to work at regulated heights using appropriate lift equipment and fall protection equipment.
  • Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection when required.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, fall protection, and arc flash protection.

Benefits & Perks

Compensation/salary range: $37/hr to $48/hr, dependent on experience
Work schedule: May be eligible for overtime
