Job Description
The Senior Staff Product Manager at Sila is responsible for shaping the future of advanced battery materials by developing product strategies, understanding customer needs, translating requirements into development plans, and creating marketing assets to support the commercialization of next-generation battery technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and develop product strategy and roadmaps for next-generation battery materials
- Cultivate relationships with key customers to understand their technical requirements and performance needs
- Conduct competitive analysis of industry-leading battery materials to identify Sila's unique value proposition
- Translate OEM requirements into internal test protocols and success metrics
- Identify and develop internal capabilities needed for product development and scaling
- Prioritize and lead internal product development initiatives, including creating business cases and tracking progress
- Create technical marketing materials and sales enablement tools to communicate product value and differentiation
Requirements
- 7 years of progressive experience in Product Management or a strategic technical role within a hard tech company, ideally a leading battery cell manufacturer or a battery materials company supplying to top-tier battery manufacturers.
- Demonstrated success in defining, launching, and managing strategic products, preferably within the advanced materials or energy storage sectors.
- Technical understanding of battery chemistry, cell design, manufacturing processes, and the critical performance requirements for advanced battery materials such as silicon anodes, cathode materials, and electrolytes.
- In-depth knowledge of the product development lifecycle for novel materials, including the unique challenges and opportunities associated with scaling from lab to commercial production.
- Proactive, adaptable, and results-oriented, with a strong bias for action in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with diverse internal teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- An advanced degree such as a Master’s, Ph.D., or an MBA is highly preferred.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $172,000 to $218,000 base pay
