Job Description
The Research Associate will perform specialized testing, analysis, and documentation of battery cells to support the development of advanced battery materials, ensuring high-quality data collection and adherence to safety protocols in a collaborative research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct specialized cell testing according to engineer specifications
- Perform systematic cell teardowns within inert environments and document findings
- Maintain and organize chemical inventory and laboratory materials
- Execute physical inspections of battery cell components and document conditions
- Support multiple research projects by executing assigned tasks
- Maintain laboratory equipment and specialized instrumentation
- Track and document experiments, chemical inventory, and teardown observations accurately
- Assist in the intake, labeling, and storage of battery chemicals following safety protocols
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of shared laboratory spaces
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline, or an Associate's degree with relevant research training
- At least 1 year of experience in a lab environment, preferably in a battery research or testing laboratory
- Ability to follow complex Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and engineer commands while maintaining high data quality
- Experience with electronic documentation systems for tracking materials or test results
- Exposure to or experience operating analytical equipment, specifically chromatography
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to pivot between tasks without losing data integrity
- Adherence to all safety protocols, including the use of a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and safety shoes
- Successfully pass a respirator fit test for use when required
- Demonstrate manual dexterity for handling battery components and sensitive materials
- Capacity to operate effectively within a glovebox environment for extended durations
- Ability to move items up to 25 lbs with the assistance of carts or lift equipment
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods at a laboratory bench or computer workstation
- Availability to work a regular shift Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $37.02/hr to $46.63/hr
Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm
