Job Description
The Electrolyte Battery Cell Engineer will design, develop, and evaluate advanced electrolyte formulations for lithium-ion batteries, optimizing performance, safety, and cycle life through electrochemical analysis and prototype testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the sourcing, development, integration, and electrochemical evaluation of novel electrolyte additives and formulations.
- Develop and execute test plans for multilayer cells from initial component integration through full cell qualification.
- Conduct electrochemical failure analysis on prototype and qualification cells to identify degradation mechanisms and inform engineering solutions.
Requirements
- At least a B.S. in engineering or science and 8 years of experience, or fewer years of experience with an advanced degree.
- Subject matter expertise demonstrated hands-on experience in developing, integrating, and evaluating electrolytes, specifically their interactions with advanced battery chemistries.
- Proficiency in advanced data analysis tools and statistical methods to drive evidence-based design decisions.
- Proven ability to perform root-cause analysis and utilize fundamental electrochemical principles to solve integration challenges in multilayer cell formats.
- Experience in cell prototyping.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier, and printer, in a fixed location.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment including a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes.
- Ability to move long distances such as from building to building and be stationary for extended periods of time.
- Ability to pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on an occasional basis.
- Availability to work a regular shift Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $151,000 to $191,000
Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm
