Job Description
The Senior Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability Specialist at Sila is responsible for developing and implementing EHS strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting audits and training, and supporting a safe and sustainable manufacturing environment in a fast-paced battery materials company.
Key Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with leaders and employees within assigned business units
- Complete technical EHS&S tasks end-to-end and provide tactical support
- Assist with development, implementation, and improvement of EHS&S policies, standards, and training materials
- Conduct audits with outside agencies and assist with exposure monitoring studies, internal audits, and event investigations
- Deliver onsite training on technical EHS&S topics
- Maintain EHS&S documents, records, and data accurately and consistently
- Research and analyze relevant regulations, codes, and standards to ensure compliance
- Participate in the Emergency Response Team and respond to emergencies as part of on-call rotation
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) or higher in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or a similar field.
- At least 3 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing space or similar environment.
- Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or MPH (Master of Public Health) are preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
- Excellent documentation abilities.
- Ability to work onsite 5 days a week in Alameda.
- Must be comfortable working in manufacturing and laboratory environments.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as respirators, safety shoes, and safety glasses when required, and exercise compliance with safety procedures.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times, and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Occasionally kneel or bend.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $105,000 to $133,000
Work onsite 5 days a week in Alameda
