Job Description
The Director of Capital Projects leads large-scale manufacturing facility projects, overseeing design, construction, and operational readiness to support Sila's growth in battery materials production. They manage engineering teams, project execution, budgeting, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful project delivery and scaling.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of large-scale manufacturing facility projects, including new builds and upgrades.
- Build and manage a high-performing engineering, project, and construction team.
- Oversee all phases of capital projects, including design, contractor management, construction, and project closeout.
- Develop and improve project programs related to resource utilization, budgeting, scheduling, quality, and risk management.
- Ensure project alignment across multiple teams such as engineering, manufacturing, and safety.
- Manage contractor relationships, resolving contractual, budget, and schedule issues.
- Coordinate with operations to ensure project completion, commissioning, and plant startup.
- Communicate project progress, performance, and issues to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive, senior leadership experience leading engineering and project teams with a proven track record of scaling, driving organizational change, and managing multi-million dollar budgets.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a science, engineering, construction management discipline or related field.
- Skilled in project planning and risk management.
- Skilled in project execution, meeting facilitation, presentation, and communication to all levels of the organization.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to build sites, primarily to and from Alameda, CA and Moses Lake, WA, with approximately 30 business trips required.
- Knowledgeable in PMP PMI certification or equivalent; certification is considered a nice-to-have.
- Experience with PSM-covered processes or process safety management is preferred.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment such as a laptop, copier, and printer in a fixed location.
- Ability to work 5 days onsite in Alameda or Moses Lake, WA.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range between $207,000 and $266,000
Work is onsite in Alameda or Moses Lake, WA with 30 business travel days required annually
