Job Description
This internship involves developing and characterizing nanostructured energy storage materials for advanced batteries, working closely with engineering teams to fabricate prototypes, perform experiments, and analyze results to support the company's mission of advancing clean energy technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop process and formulation projects with the engineering team for nanostructured materials and products
- Fabricate product prototypes and test battery performance
- Design, run, and analyze experiments to characterize nanomaterials and prototypes
- Develop and implement analytical methods to analyze product prototypes
- Document and present experimental results, conclusions, and recommendations
Requirements
- Ability to make a six month commitment to working and developing skills at Sila.
- Studying toward or recently received a degree in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, or related field.
- Prior experience with hands-on lab work is a must.
- Exceptional analytical and documentation skills.
- Ability to learn new skills and ask for help when needed.
- Capable of working independently with direction.
- Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes.
- Operate analytical equipment at a bench.
- Move long distances such as from building to building and be stationary for extended periods of time.
- Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier, printer, etc. in a fixed location.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $25/hr to $39/hr, depending on education, experience, and skills
Work schedule: Six-month commitment, potential eligibility for overtime
Work environment perks: Personal protective equipment provided (lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, steel toe safety shoes), operating analytical equipment at a bench, moving between buildings, working at a fixed location with a computer and office equipment
