Job Description
The Senior Control and Digital Infrastructure Engineer at SB Energy is responsible for providing technical expertise in SCADA, networking, and control systems during the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of energy and data center projects, ensuring system integration, compliance, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide SCADA, networking, and control subject matter expertise during project design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
- Lead control and SCADA technical aspects, ensuring contractor expectations are clear and project milestones are met.
- Manage compliance with external entities such as ISO, QSE, NERC, FERC, and utilities during design and implementation.
- Oversee and support controls testing, commissioning activities, and system integration for energy and data center projects.
- Lead SCADA system upgrades, expansions, and related projects, coordinating with internal teams and external contractors.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues using cross-functional knowledge of energy and data center infrastructure components.
- Evaluate and implement technologies to reduce costs and expedite project commissioning.
- Provide technical guidance on telecommunications and networking design to ensure reliable, cost-effective solutions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in design and commissioning in control systems and networking in the energy and data center sectors
- B.S. Engineering from an ABET-accredited University or other technical degree; Masters or Doctorate degree is a plus and counts towards professional experience
- Proficiency in SCADA, networking, and control systems, including experience with equipment such as Ignition, SEL Hardware Software, GE RX3i, CodeSYS, Data Loggers, Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Schneider, Meteorological Equipment, etc.
- Experience managing control and SCADA technical aspects during the design, contracting, construction, commissioning, and operations phases of energy and data center projects
- Ability to lead and oversee controls testing and commissioning activities, including system integration, point-to-point testing, controls testing AVR, PFR, curtailment, NERC, performance tests, etc.
- Experience leading SCADA-related projects, including system, feature upgrades, and expansions, and coordinating with internal teams and external contractors to ensure timely and on-budget completion
- Knowledge of external compliance requirements including ISO, QSE, NERC, FERC, utilities, and CPUC in California, and ability to manage requirements and ensure compliance
- Technical knowledge of telecommunications and networking design and programming to ensure reliable, cost-effective solutions that meet project requirements
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues using data and cross-functional knowledge of energy and data center infrastructure components
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to work as a self-starter and drive efforts towards completion
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to present modeling results effectively
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 25%
