Job Description
A senior technical leadership role responsible for designing and implementing the architectural foundation of Samsara's sustainability products, focusing on real-time data processing, energy monitoring, and fleet electrification to improve resource efficiency and reduce carbon footprint across global transportation and infrastructure sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and own the technical strategy for Samsara's Sustainability product suite, including energy monitoring and fleet electrification infrastructure.
- Design and implement real-time, data-intensive, fault-tolerant systems to improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon footprint.
- Lead the development of high-fidelity data processing from raw sensor signals for energy and driver behavior analysis.
- Mentor and develop engineering teams, driving architectural decisions and ensuring alignment with long-term technical vision.
- Leverage large-scale datasets to solve complex problems such as driver efficiency and sensor signal processing.
- Drive technical direction and build consensus across multiple product and engineering teams.
- Identify and solve complex technical challenges with high autonomy, from concept to operational deployment.
Requirements
- Proven impact designing, building, and operating real-time, distributed, fault-tolerant systems at scale, with a systems-oriented mindset and a deep understanding of long-term architectural trade-offs.
- A history of hands-on contribution at a senior level, demonstrating the ability to stay deeply close to implementation and drive results quickly within a complex, global engineering team.
- Experience working with large-scale data processing or machine learning pipelines, with the ability to dive into raw data to find patterns and solve customer problems.
- Deep sense of ownership and the ability to drive multi-quarter, cross-functional initiatives to completion without waiting for direction.
- Ability to lead the technical strategy for a product suite, including refining raw, inconsistent sensor signals into high-fidelity data for energy monitoring and building complex global infrastructure for fleet electrification.
- Experience designing and implementing real-time, complex, data-intensive systems that ship production code to improve fuel efficiency for customers.
- Strong mentorship and leadership skills to elevate the technical bar across the organization, including mentoring engineers, leading architectural decisions, and driving alignment around a long-term technical vision.
- Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy to identify and solve challenging technical problems from initial concept to operational reality.
- Excellent communication skills to build consensus across multiple product and engineering teams and act as a key technical partner to leadership.
